Viborg has a lively artistic and cultural life providing excellent locations for exibitions and musical arrangements. Combined with an active clublife this results in many exhibitions and lectures, as well as concerts for all tastes.

The Skovgaard Museum is Viborg's art museum. It houses the works by the Skovgaard family of artists as well as changing art exhibitions. Joakim Skovgaard created the frescoes in Viborg Cathedral.

At present the Skovgaard Museum is closed. On the 8th April 2010 the museum reopens with an exhibition showing Your Majesty Queen Margrethe II's art.

Kunsthallen Brænderigården - Viborg's centre for art and culture has alternate exhibitions of both earlier and modern art and design. It also contains a studio for artists and an art school. There are plans to establish a graphic workshop and also let local artists work in public during the summer.
